2016 New Year's Resolutions: Show Up, All In

Saturday, 2 January 2016

Dear 2016,

2015 last minute has ticked away so I stand at your doorstep ready to enter your presence. I'm EXCITED for you, but I'm also nervous. See there are two words that come to mind as I finish 2015: unmerited favor + distraction. I look back and see highlights of my year where God was undeservingly gracious to me (all glory to His name) and I see constant threads of distraction with no true, stable consistency. You will be different. There are 3hundred6SIX of your days spread out before me; blank pages waiting for the story to be written. I won't have control over every word inked on those pages, but I DO have control over the theme of the story the words create; and because of that...

I can choose faith over fear...
I can find victory instead of defeat...
I can become strong in my weakness...
I can love when I want to hate...
I can keep walking when it's hard...
I can trust when I can't see...
I can build up instead of tear down...
I can inspire in place of discourage...
I can accomplish before I regret...
I can be present instead of looking back...
I can share my light when it feels dark...
I can breathe life where most feel death...
I can grow even if I have to break first...
I can be used by God instead of controlled by man...

Each of your days laced together will carry a tune from the song I sing. There is a responsibility I carry in each day, so I sit down and ask myself: what song WILL I sing these next 3hundred6SIX days? How WILL I handle the responsibility put into my hands?

Reflecting on the strokes of the pen used to write the story of my future, I narrow down the most meaningful pages to give my full attention too:

1. In my marriage, I will chose humility when my pride flames up.
2. In my marriage, I will chose sacrifice before I turn inward-focused with only selfish vision.
3. In my business, I will chose to grow and lead my team with passion, inspiration, determination, and faith.
4. In my business, I will create raving fans of health + fitness + life.
5. In my fit journey, I will complete my 60 day hammer + chisel program to a T.
6. In my fit journey, I will honor the Lord with my choices, my body, and my motivation.
7. In my nutrition, I will chose to nourish my body above the lust of my eyes.
8. In my nutrition, I will drink my Super Foods for all 3hundred6SIX days of 2016.
9. In my relationship with God, I will read the WHOLE bible by the end of 2016.
10. In my relationship with God, I will allow the Spirit to convict, challenge, grow, shape, and refine me into the woman He wants me to be.
11. In my finances, I will finish off the last of my student loans (big goal, but I have a BIG God ;)
12. In my finances, I will prioritize God's work, my business, my savings, my loans, and my future.
13. In my friendships, I will choose to checkin more frequently while living overseas.
14. In my friendships, I will choose to be happy for others and encourage them in their dreams.
15. In my blog, I want to consistently share the real, the raw, life: the messy + the beauty.
16. In my challenge groups, I will show up daily to encourage, cheer on and motivate my participants.

In every aspect of life I want to reflect intentionality, faith, and hope.

Intentional in how I act, speak, live, work, relate, and be.
Faith shown in times of trouble, discouragement, uphill battles, and victories.
Hope that no matter what God is IN control, my life belongs to him, and to His glory may my days be lived.

2016, it's a new year... And you're looking reallyyyy good. I'm here, I'm going to SHOW UP, be ALL IN and meet you on the other side in 3hundred6six days prayerfully able to answer this question positively: at the end of the year... did you live it well and will Jesus Christ, the righteous judge, say "well done, good + faithful servant?"

Psalm 90, you are my yearly bible passage, and I can't wait to see how your interwoven among the etches of the days.
