Motivational Monday: What Defines you?

Monday, 3 August 2015

Each day I strive to spend an allotted amount of time on Personal Development. Today, I chose to watch this video: Lizzie Vazquez "How do you define yourself". By the end of this segment, my husband had come over to watch with me and tears were pouring down my face.

As the video finished, we sat in silence.

Every negative comment, criticism and lie I've ever heard began to flow across my heart. As each one came across, I began to recognize they missed their mark of trying desperately to assault me. The comments were simply void of effect. They were empty. Lizzie was right. Words only have the power that we surrender to them.

Today, I chose to define my own beauty. I chose to fill my heart with the love of God's Word. He created me for a purpose. The exact way that I am: from my freckles, to my hair I so desperately want to naturally be blonde ;), to the way I can't swing a golf club, to my super talkative nature when I'm with one of my best friends. I am uniquely and beautifully me.

You are uniquely and beautifully you.

Why let someone else define what kind of creation we are?

No. I decline to surrender that power. That power belongs solely to my Creator. A Creator determines the value and worth of the creation. And this is what My Creator has to say about me, his creation:

"For you created me in my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in that secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." Psalm 139:13-16

I shine His beauty, and there's nothing capable of robbing me of that refreshing truth.
